David P. Henry was born and raised in Tyler, Texas. He graduated from Texas Christian University in 1997, magna cum laude with a political science degree. David then attended Texas Tech School of Law in Lubbock, Texas and served on the Texas Tech Law Review. He was selected to the Order of the Coif and graduated magna cum laude from law school in 2000.

David began his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert M. Parker of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. After his clerkship, he worked in the commercial litigation section at Vinson & Elkins, LLP in Dallas, where he handled a wide variety of complex commercial cases in courts throughout the nation, including nationwide class actions, fiduciary disputes, and professional malpractice suits. He returned to East Texas in 2007 to join Coghlan Crowson, LLP in Longview, where he focused primarily on oil and gas law. In 2009, he formed The Henry Firm, P.C., where he continued his commercial litigation and oil and gas practice. David is now a partner in Stevens | Henry, PLLC.

David’s practice includes commercial and business cases, oil and gas litigation, real estate and construction cases, contract disputes, fiduciary litigation, insurance claims and DTPA claims. David also assists clients in a variety of oil and gas transactional matters, such as farmouts, leases, and leasehold assignments. In addition to practicing in state and federal courts throughout Texas, David has also represented clients in federal courts throughout the United States, including courts in Missouri, Illinois, Idaho, Louisiana and Washington.

David is licensed to practice in Texas and is admitted to the federal courts for the Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of Texas. He is also admitted in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

David is married to Claire Abernathy Henry, who is also an attorney. Claire and David live in Longview and are the proud parents of two girls – Eloise and Sarah. David is active in several organizations in Longview. When not practicing law, David enjoys hiking, mountaineering and playing guitar.
