Wills and Probate

Wills and Estate Planning Documents

A person’s Last Will and Testament is a legal document containing a person’s final wishes, setting out how the person’s assets are to be distributed upon his or her passing. Stevens | Henry, PLLC can assist you in preparing your Last Will and Testament and other documents that go along with your Will, such as a financial Power of Attorney, a Medical Power of Attorney and a Directive to Physicians.

The probate of someone’s estate refers to the process by which a Court recognizes that person’s death and authorizes the administration of that person’s estate. The probate process applies both when someone dies leaving a Will or when someone dies without a Will. Probate law involves going to court following the death of a person, identifying and gathering documents and assets of the deceased, paying debts and distributing assets to designated parties. Whether your loved one died with a will or without a will, we will assist you through the probate process.

When a person is unable to manage his or her financial affairs or medical care and has not appointed someone to act on his or her behalf, a guardian may be appointed to manage the person’s affairs or medical care. Stevens | Henry, PLLC works with families and friends who have lost someone to incapacity and who need help navigating the guardianship system.
